How Athena uses AI

Last Updated: June 7, 2026

Athena is RizzMoney’s read-only personal finance assistant. This page explains, in plain language, what information Athena uses, how responses are generated, and what the feature cannot do. Our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service govern your use of RizzMoney.

At a glance

  • Athena can explain your RizzMoney information and help you think through financial scenarios.
  • Athena cannot move money, place trades, pay bills, edit transactions, or make changes to your accounts.
  • RizzMoney sends only the context selected as relevant to your question to OpenAI’s API.
  • RizzMoney does not sell your financial data or AI conversations, use them for advertising, or opt in to train OpenAI models with Athena content.
  • AI can make mistakes. Athena is not a financial advisor and its responses are not professional advice.

What Athena may use

The context depends on what you ask. A general question may not require any personal financial data. A question about your own finances may use some of the following information from your authenticated RizzMoney account:

RizzMoney minimizes the snapshot before it is sent and does not intentionally send full account numbers, financial-account credentials, Social Security numbers, or private keys to the AI provider. Do not enter passwords, one-time passcodes, full card numbers, government identification numbers, or other unnecessary sensitive information in an Athena message.

How a response is generated

  1. RizzMoney authenticates your account and reviews the type of question you asked.
  2. RizzMoney selects the context reasonably needed for that question. Some requests use summary-level data; detailed transaction data is included only when the question calls for it.
  3. Your message and selected context are sent securely from RizzMoney’s server to OpenAI’s API.
  4. OpenAI generates a response, which RizzMoney returns to you.

RizzMoney sets OpenAI API requests not to store generated responses as application state for later retrieval. OpenAI may still retain API inputs, outputs, and related metadata for a limited period for abuse monitoring, security, or legal compliance under its API data controls. OpenAI states that API data is not used to train or improve its models by default unless the customer opts in. RizzMoney does not opt in with Athena content.

Conversation history and memory

RizzMoney stores up to the latest 120 messages in an Athena conversation to provide continuity. The app currently displays messages from the most recent 24 hours. Older stored messages may remain until they are replaced by newer messages or your RizzMoney account is deleted.

Athena may also save a limited set of preferences, planning assumptions, rejected suggestions, and app-education status. Saved memory is helper context only. It is not live financial data, cannot override current RizzMoney values, and does not give Athena permission to act for you.

What Athena cannot do

Your choices

Using Athena is optional. You can stop using it at any time. You can delete your RizzMoney account through supported in-app controls, which deletes the user data stored under your account, including Athena conversation history and saved memory, subject to limited information we may retain when required or permitted by law. You may also contact support@rizzmoney.app with privacy questions or deletion requests.

Important limitation

AI systems generate responses based on patterns and context. A response can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated even when it sounds confident. Check important information against your official account records and consult a qualified professional before making a significant financial decision.
